Sorry for the bad pun, jus kinda relates to what I've been working on lately. I've been steadily working on some fanneart for dansch's The Fowl, this really kick-ass pulp-hero kinda guy, and in the process of that and working on my own comic I've kinda overhauled the way I draw, which is nice. Been doing alot of reference sketches, and even went so far as to ask my roommate to pose for a pic for one of them (the pose being so physically uncomfortable for him that he almost vomited...which kinda made me giggle..yeah, I'm a bit of a masochist, I know...anyway, moving on. In the course of today's work, I've decided two things.

1) I must buy new cheap-o colored pens. My last one, the purple one, died today, and that sucks cause I loved those guys for sketching. Cleaner than pencil, and plus easier to ink over (the photo pencil I also use kinda messes with the ink in my other pens sometimes, and plus I do enjoy the feel of the image that the pen gives me. Pencils are just kinda rough, and sketchy, which is nice for that kind of work, or for painting purposes, but in terms of figure drawing, I LOVE MUH PENS).

2) I will not mix sharpies with other inks anymore...the scanner refuses to read them as the same color, and thus my sharpie blacks come out as wahed out looking. So just straight forward penwork and india ink stuff, maybe full pics done with sharpies...maybe. Also wish to buy more of those awesome paint pens like my red one. I used it for The Creeper pic I did, and I really liked the outcome for that.

Okay, just mindless prattling at this point. Probably better suited for a LJ account, but it sorta directly relates to my art stuff, so I felt I should put it here. New art soon...I mean it this time.

On here again...scratch that, have been on alot here lately, but not contributing to anything, which is begining to bother me. I wanna have stuff out there, but most of my stuff here lately has been just sketch work...y'know, google/dA searching for photos of things, sketching them out, haphazardly trying to implement what I see into original pieces. A bit ago, I was trying my hand at doing some fanart of The Fowl, this really neat-o webcomic thingy that I first saw on here. Sorta like DKR Batman, but more violent, and it's own animal (without all of the backstory for Bats) in many ways. Just really, really fun stuff. Another digital series I've been picking up is Freakangels, which is sorta post apocolyptic-y goodness... gotta be seen to understand. Anywho, I'm going back to work on more stuff, hopefully get a finished piece or two up, mebbe a few sketch pages here and there, I dunno...

Seriously, go check it out, and critique the hell out of it...

My internet connection was out all weekend because of a stupid storm on Friday, but it gave me the chance to tool around on MS paint a bit more. I gotta say that I am truly digging the Getter piece I did, and hope to do projects based around my own work next time. Also getting more work doen on the tentatively titled "El Moo-O" stories, with some new designs. Also the possibilty of some Kamen Rider art coming up, and if I indeed get the money for a digital camera soon I'll star uploading my attempts at a Kamen rider cosplay (in preparation as we speak, for Persacon in late June...YAY).

Microsoft paint-usually reserved for office goofing-off or children’s boredom, right? That’s what I thought, too, until just yesterday. A fellow on the DA was writing about a then- unknown -to- me editing tool featured in MSP, which rekindled my interest in tooling around on it…the results were pretty nice for what constituted as a doodling session, so I have decided to explore this further and try to utilize ms paint as a full artistic medium. A few more experiments in what all I can do with it, then maybe a full work or two if I’m satisfied. I want to do this for folks like me who can’t afford fancy graphics programs and are heavily confused by the open source stuff that’s out (though I may download that painter program I found, that was rather nifty…. So I’m off to pervert the art world some more. Wish me luck.
